TITANIUM...Am Bullet-Proof

Usually i get to write based on what i listen to or events happening around me and recently one of the songs on "replay" in my head is Titanium by David Guetta ft Sia...which fits perfectly with a lot that has occurred in recent times. First, let me define the word 'titanium".

"A type of metal, which is stronger than steel, but lighter in weight.  Titanium is corrosion resistant and serves many purposes because of its durability. Titanium changes colour as the metal's temperature increases".

Now am going to breakdown specific words in this definition to further explain the aim of this "musing" :).

Stronger than steel :- there is a saying i like " What comes out of you when you are squeezed is what is inside of you. —Wayne Dyer" and nothing more can properly define the true worth of a man than when  he is on the "ground" ; a weak man stays down while a strong man picks up "a lesson" and stands up "stronger than steel".

Lighter in weight :- i will get a little personal here (just a tiny bit)...naturally, am a typical example of the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover" and yes, when people get to know me its hard for them to associate the "outward" me with the "real" me and this is something i absolutely enjoy :)....what's the fun if someone can decipher you from just one look :) and where it gets more interesting is when they have that look on their face that says "ahhhhhh...i thought you were an "ajebuta" o" (which is something am far from...even though you can't call me the hardcore "ajepako"...lol) but at the end of the day what they mean is "ahhhhh...you are stronger than you look...your physical appearance cannot be used to judge your strength", (just like "titanium") because even though it looks "fragile", it is still perfectly "CAPABLE".

Corrosion resistant :- "Times may get tough but all we do is get tougher"...as i got older i had to accept the reality that life is indeed not a bed of roses, bad things happen but at the end of the day all that matters is how we turn out after the "event"...do we come out "corroded" OR do we resist "corrosion"?. Obviously, i picked the latter...i never let a sad event in my life control me, i resist corrosion (yeah, easier said than done) but i can boldly say this because have been through some unexpected turns in life but all i did in those moments was "hold my head up, PRAY TO GOD and pick up from where i stopped with a spirit of gratitude" besides life can only get better never worse :).

Durability :- some of us can remember one or two of our past belongings (a bag, shoe, clothes e.t.c.) that seemed to never get old...the thing just dey as if na new item even in old age, until we probably outgrew them or gave them out. Well, that's what "titanium" is, it can last for a very long time and thus, it is used for various purposes. This applies to some "breeds” of humans...some people just never get "old" (physically or inwardly), they just seem to be "forever young" and these are the kind of people i love and admire, trust me there is nothing more depressing than a "dead / negative spirit",  i just can't stand pessimism. For me, as long as there is breath and the grace of God still rules, we all can be "durable", we can overcome any pitfall, we can adapt to any environment and we can be very useful in achieving various purposes in life. "No one is useless...some people have not just discovered their usefulness".

Changes colour as the metal's temperature increases:- "the hotter it gets the better"...naturally i used to be scared of change or challenges but i had to curb that fear because i realized you have to pass through "fire" to get "well cooked", how do you expect to grow if you don't pass through certain unfavourable experiences in life?, at the end of the day all that matters is that as the "temperature increases (challenges) ,our dull colour falls off / changes and our bright colour shows....shining brighter than ever".

As Brian Adams aptly says "Difficulties are opportunities to better things; they are stepping stones to greater experience. Perhaps someday you will be thankful for some temporary failure in a particular direction. When one door closes, another always opens"

We are all stronger than we think....We are TITANIUM.

Smile.
