Love Story:how death led to life

Short Story
Bola was the life of the party; she had the latest clothes, knew the hot spots and was the unopposed leader of her bubbling group of hot chicks. Nonso is the classic definition of a geek; quiet, studious and to top it up he was a very very religious brother.

Time and fate led Bola's and Nonso's paths to cross and for some reason (maybe opposites really does attract) an intense love filled relationship started between the duo. There was something about Bola now; a certain glow, and Nonso suddenly developed a more confident stride in his steps.

But there was a huge problem...

Neither could share this new found exciting-giddy-intense-feeling with their close friends or even the public. How would Nonso explain falling in love with Bola, a "sinner"? How would Bola keep her social prestige intact after falling in love with geekolious Nonso (that was the nickname she and her group had coined for him), surely they would laugh at her?

So they kept it on the down low until neither could contain their excitement; for it was already obvious something had changed in both parties, and they decided to tell the whole world about their relationship, regardless of the effect such public declaration would cause and it sure did cause a storm; Bola was overthrown from the bubbling group and Nonso was judged by the "Scribes" and "Pharisees".

But they didn't care, for at last they were free to love and grow as a couple and of course as all classic love stories goes; they obviously lived happily ever after.

The End.

Now bringing it back home (of course I was heading somewhere with that story), Bola in the story represents me (not in all components since from my records I can't remember leading a bubbling group..lol) and Nonso (not in all components also) represents God.

You see, I fell in love recently...

Music of the Week: Tiwa Savage "My Darlin"

Tiwa Savage just broke the internet...at least she broke mine...lol.

Woke up to her latest video, "My Darlin"; great visuals (kudos to Kemi Adetiba) and very catchy melody, I can actually imagine people dancing to the tune at weddings.

Of course it had to be my music (video) of the week.

Watch, enjoy and relax those mid-week frayed nerves.

In the meantime, what do you think about the video? yay or nay?

Music of the Week : Khona Mafikizolo ft Uhuru

The first time I heard this song I had to move, not just my neck (not that idle bobbing of your head when all you want to do is stand up and tear down the dance floor).

But the real deal :).

And I can rightly guess most people had the same reaction when they heard the smashing hit.

It really didn't matter if I didn't know what "Khona" meant at the time, all that mattered was how great it sounded.

But curiosity got the best of me and I had to find out what the song really means and luckily I got a very elaborate article on the song written by Prince Adewale Oreshade.

So for all the Khona lovers and curious minds out there, do click on the link after the cut to know more about the song:

Music of the Week: Chidinma Emi Ni Baller

The honest truth is that unlike every other day and every other post, I really don't feel like crafting out a looooooonnnnnngggggg epistle review about the song I am about to share.

So I will just summarise by saying:

Emi Ni Baller by Chidinma featuring label mates Tha Suspect and Illbliss, shot and directed by Clarence Peters is a very lovely song; especially with Chidinma going all gangstar and of course I had to also chip in the remix so that YOU can get to hear the ever bubbling and spectacular voice of Wizkid (everything he touches definitely turns to gold).

I guess that was short...lol.

Enjoy :)

Waje: I Wish

This is one of my favourite songs. The first time I heard it, I actually thought it was done by a foreign artist (not that am saying we don't have great artists here in Nigeria) but we all know we tend to expect fast paced songs from a large chunk of artists with very few exceptions like Burna Boy, Bez, Ebisan, Blackmagic and now; Waje.

I also really like the video production, done by the talented Clarence Peters.

As we step into the weekend mood...relax, stretch out your feet and enjoy.

Music of the Week: Music of My Heart, Nicole C. Mullen

Review: I can't remember how I came across this song but it stuck like glue immediately I listened to it. In her own unique way, Nicole C. Mullen reaffirms her love for God and her willingness to be used as His Vessel here on earth.

In my humble opinion, it is the best song to listen to when your faith in God starts getting a little shaky and you just want to remind yourself of that undying love He promised us and the need to "Be Still and know that He is God".

It also reminds us of the need to always remember that we are here as vessels and reflections of God's love and mercy.

"We glorify Him most and enjoy Him most when we work with fervor and excellence for His pleasure, not ours. For His service and the service of others, not self-service and personal gain, because He deserves our all - Randy Kilgore".

Question: What is your own take on the song?

Music of the Week: Diallo by Wyclef Jean

I was out chilling with some friends a while back and mid way into the azonto-etighi-alingo movements on the dance floor, the DJ suddenly started playing Diallo by Wyclef Jean and despite its slow tune, it quickly took everyone down memory lane.

Virtually everyone was singing along and it felt really good remembering those good ol' days of lyric books ( a twenty page or less publication of lyrics *sometimes right, sometimes wrong* of hit songs).

Music of the Week: Soul Music

There is something about soul music that just slowly eases any form of stress out of your body.

It just makes everything calm and zen; for as long as possible.

At least until someone taps you and unknowingly jolts you back to the hustle and bustle around you.

Well, my "Music of the Week" gives me that serenity and I hope it does the same for YOU; especially with all the mid-week deadlines that may be "choking" you right now.

Just take some minutes, plug in your ear phones and relax.

You deserve it :).

Brand New Me

By now you should have figured out that Alicia Keys is one of my favorite artists :).

I simply love the soul in her music.

After listening to Terry G and Timaya, it helps to also listen to songs that have great lyrics.

Today, I will be sharing a track off her new album; Girl on Fire titled Brand New Me.

The song is hmmmmm...let me let YOU judge for yourself

New Music : Dr. Sid ft Tiwa Savage

A while back I upload a beautiful song by Labrinth and Emeli Sande titled Beneath Your Beautiful

And today I just heard a lovely cover of the song by Mavin's Dr. Sid and Tiwa Savage and it sounded really good. They both did an impressive job, who knew Dr. Sid could sing like that?

Music of the Week: Sweetest Taboo

What better way to celebrate the eve of Valentine's day than listening to the sultry voice of Sade Adu in her classic song Sweetest Taboo?

Hmmmmm..it just sets you in that right romantic mood yeah :).

To make today's edition more special, I have added the lyrics of the song just to give it that extra zing.

Enjoy and don't forget to tell us how you feel about this song.

Girl On Fire : Alicia Keys

I just couldn't wait until Wednesday to share this song (just incase you have not noticed, I am a "music addict").

And this is presently one of my favourite songs.

In Nigerian Slang; just listening to it gingers my swagger.

It inspires me to go out there, own it and be on fire!!!.

I can go on and on telling you how much I love this song but I will just let YOU have a feel of it and then tell me what you think :).
