Creative Writing Workshop

Young adults with a passion for writing have been urged to submit entries for the Inaugural Yasmin el-Rufai Creative Writing Workshop 2013.

A statement by Exodus4Art, the Literary Organisation behind the Workshop, says it is interested in young writers between the ages of 14 and 21 years in the genre of prose fiction for a Workshop holding in Abuja April 8th to 12th.

The Workshop is in memory of Yasmin el-Rufai, the late daughter of the former Minister of the FCT, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai and his wife, Hadiza el-Rufai, who died in November, 2011.

The Workshop will take the form of a class with participants being assigned a wide range of reading exercises, as well as daily writing exercises. 

The aim of the Workshop is to improve the craft of writers. 

Participation is limited only to those who apply and are accepted.

Applicants must have accommodation in Abuja as the Organisers have no plans to provide accommodation for them during the Workshop period.

3. Date of Birth

4. A few sentences about yourself

5. A writing sample of between 250 and 500 words. The sample may either be fiction or non-fiction.

With “Workshop Application” in the subject line. (No attachments)

Deadline for submission is February 20th, 2013.

Only those accepted to the Workshop will be notified by March 18th, 2013. 

"A literary evening to round off the Workshop, open to the public, will hold on Saturday April 13th, 2013", according to the Organisers.
