How to get that Picture Perfect Smile

Say Cheese!!!!!!

These simple words may excite alot of people especially those who are shutter-crazy (picture addicts as I would like to call them), while for some it sends shivers down their spines.

These shivers may be out of anxiety or may lean toward the state of one's dentition.

If you fall within the latter category; don't worry.

Music of the Week: Soul Music

There is something about soul music that just slowly eases any form of stress out of your body.

It just makes everything calm and zen; for as long as possible.

At least until someone taps you and unknowingly jolts you back to the hustle and bustle around you.

Well, my "Music of the Week" gives me that serenity and I hope it does the same for YOU; especially with all the mid-week deadlines that may be "choking" you right now.

Just take some minutes, plug in your ear phones and relax.

You deserve it :).

I used to be Sad

I am strongly of the opinion that; Knowledge / Experience hoarded is equivalent to not having that Knowledge / Experience in the first place.

So I wrote this piece with the hope that someone out there will read it, identify with where I was and smile; knowing  that tomorrow  will be much better if you choose to work hard at it.

I also want YOU to share in my perfect imperfect journey through life and enjoy every bit of it as I am :).

THE “YOU” IN YOU

"Wow!"
"My goodness!"
"What a majestic sight!"
"It’s too real to be true. Unbelievable!"

These were just some of the exclamations that greeted the new sculpture recently unveiled at the Palace. The King’s guests were so taken in; they demanded to see the 'angel' that could create such a beauty.

I woke up this morning and the air seemed sweeter, the sun rays felt like the feel of satin on my delicate skin.

At first I thought I probably just woke up on the right side of my bed.

Until, I remembered today's date and what it means to me.

:).

23rd of February, 2013.

Before I Die....

A friend of mine once posted a disturbing question on his bbm status:

What will your epitaph* say?

And my first reaction was "shooo, is this guy already planning his funeral"?.

But that was until I really sat down and thought about the question.

Really what will be written on your tombstone?

That simple yet disturbing (since no one wants to die) question defines your purpose on earth.

Its simply asks :

Why are you here?

What will be your story when you are gone?

What footprints will you leave on earth?

Brand New Me

By now you should have figured out that Alicia Keys is one of my favorite artists :).

I simply love the soul in her music.

After listening to Terry G and Timaya, it helps to also listen to songs that have great lyrics.

Today, I will be sharing a track off her new album; Girl on Fire titled Brand New Me.

The song is hmmmmm...let me let YOU judge for yourself

Weekend Nugget #1

Connecting to intention means listening to your heart and conducting yourself based on what your inner voice tells you is your purpose here.

If you are overly concerned with how you are going to be perceived by everyone, then you have disconnected your from "intention" and allowed the opinions of others to guide you.

Do what you do simply because your inner voice is connected to it.

And don't forget to be grateful to your Maker while at it.

Smile.

Poetry #1

Today's poem is titled; Desiderata by Max Ehrmann.

*Desiderata are, technically, things considered necessary or highly desirable in life.

Thus, the poem is a list of things we desire in life.

I picked this poem because it simply resonates what we need to always remember in our day to day life on Earth.

A New Phase Begins

In just a few days I will be a year old in the blogging World.

Precisely, the 23rd of February, 2013 will mark a year since the existence of Everyday Life With Tosyn.

A playful idea crafted out of my need to write and most importantly share ideas and articles that will leave a positive impression on my audience is gradually leaving its infancy phase.

So far, the journey has been good and I owe it all to God, He has been very very very faithful.

:).

In light of the upcoming Anniversary, I will be introducing a new twist to Everyday Life With Tosyn.

...and WE Won

Yesterday (10th February, 2013) marked a milestone in Nigerian Football as the Super Eagles went on to win the 2013 African Cup of Nations.

This is a respite after the 19-year jinx our dear Country witnessed.

Congratulations to the UNDISPUTED Champions of Africa!!!!.

A Book Unread

Sometimes we unconsciously categorise and even judge people before  knowing them.

You may meet a stranger and immediately your mind places the Individual in a mental box.

Based on your mood and the first impression you get; this mental box may be a black box (negative) or a white box (positive).

Girl On Fire : Alicia Keys

I just couldn't wait until Wednesday to share this song (just incase you have not noticed, I am a "music addict").

And this is presently one of my favourite songs.

In Nigerian Slang; just listening to it gingers my swagger.

It inspires me to go out there, own it and be on fire!!!.

I can go on and on telling you how much I love this song but I will just let YOU have a feel of it and then tell me what you think :).

Be Inspired!!!

How to weather a "Storm" by Faith Alfa

Hard times and Challenges.

When hard times strike, it is difficult to smile, laugh, talk with friends, and do the things you love to do.

Some times we can get so lost that we forget to pray.

Many times we feel that we are all alone; little do we know that there are so many people "screaming on the inside" for just a hug or a smile to set them free.

On many days what will determine how we pull through is how we react to these hard times.

Tomorrow by Mr. O

So you decided to read this article now?

Well, it is a good thing you did not wait until tomorrow.

Tomorrow has always been my greatest enemy, ironically all I do everyday is for a better tomorrow.

But then;

How to become relevant in a "Man's World"

Have you ever been in meeting/gathering dominated by male folks and by the time it is over, you ask yourself " why was I here in the first place"?

For some reason, you just feel absolutely irrelevant.

With an imprisoned voice.

Well, I have been there and I must tell you it is not pretty.

Naturally men are built to lead, thus imagine a room filled with strong "alphas", How do you want to be relevant in that setting? How do you want your "soft" voice to be heard over all the roars?

Since I have been there, I will outline what has worked for me and hopefully it will help YOU in your own "jungle".

Becoming Linda Ikeji

So someone in a "kind" way suggested that I become a clone of Linda Ikeji.

And although Linda is someone I can learn from and admire based on her ability to effectively engage her audience via her blog posts.

I simply don't want to be her.

All Work and No Play

I got an email this morning from Holly Lisle (subscribed to her updates) and it really made a lot of sense.

I honestly think it will be useful for Writers out there who get “burned out” simply from setting unrealistic targets.

The post preaches: Writing One Day at a Time.
